Taiwan Donates Again
posted (June 5, 2020)
On Monday, the Taiwanese Embassy in Belize donated 60,000 surgical masks to the Ministry of Health. And today, only 4 days later, the Embassy made another donation of 15,000 face masks to Government of Belize.

The Taiwanese Ambassador, Remus Li Kuo Chen, handed over the donation to Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington. The donation also comes with an automated temperature measurement system, which will go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It will be integrated into the eco-friendly building currently under construction.

The masks will be distributed across the government service.

These regular donations to Belize line up with the position taken by Taiwan's President, Tsai Ing-Wen, who said, quote, "We cannot stop the spread of COVID-19 by simply preventing an outbreak in Taiwan. All members of the international community must pool their capabilities and work together to overcome this challenge." End quote.

Belize has constantly lobbied for Taiwan to be included in the World Health Organization.
