71 Year Old Knocked Down And Killed on Butane Run
posted (June 9, 2020)
71 year old Tomas Pacheco was killed last night, knocked off his bike while on an errand in the village of August Pine Ridge, Orange Walk. It happened at about 7:30, just before the curfew hour.

That's when Natalio Solis, a farmer also from August Pine Ridge, was driving on the village's main road. According to Solis, Pacheco appeared on his bicycle out of nowhere crossing the road from left to right.

Solis applied brakes but ended up rear ending the bicycle and knocking down Pacheco - who was flung almost 50 feet and suffered massive head injuries. He died on the spot. This morning, CTV3 spoke to Pacheco's widow who says her husband would never have been out that late but he'd gone to get the gas she needed to finish their evening meal.

Voice of: Maureen, Wife of the deceased
"They sent to call me and they told me that Thomas, my husband Thomas was knocked, he got knocked down and I went to check and I went to check if it was true and I went there and I saw his body right there and I said it's true what they said because I saw his body there. Right there in Pine Ridge there are two Thomas's so I said that it must be the other one not him so I went to check and I saw his body there dashed down right there. I didn't believe it was him until I saw him."

"The police just did the measuring and thing and took the body and took down some measurements and things and they didn't tell me anything about how the accident happened or nothing. Nobody has said anything, nobody told me anything."
