BTIA Takes Poll, Tropic Responds
posted (June 9, 2020)
Last night we told you that Tropic air had issued a poll to gage response on the re-opening of the P.G.I.A. but we got our signals a little crossed because while it's the BTIA who's conducting a membership survey entitled: "Opening Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA)" Tropic Air CEO Steven Schulte issued a call to action urging members to agree to a July 1st re-opening.

Tonight, our information is that Schulte's call to action, a move in line with Tropic Air's recent campaign to put pressure on BTIA membership, did not resonate with a majority of his intended audience. The industry is in fact hopelessly divided on the issue and our sources say that when it comes to re-opening the International airport they will let the Prime Minister, armed with the most comprehensive and relevant information, make the call.

The BTIA has also issued a warning to their membership throwing slight shade on Schulte's letter and others like it. The BTIA says circulation of letters addressed to members and reiterating that quote: "official BTIA communications are issued only by the President, Melanie Paz or Executive Director John M. Burgos of the BTIA on its official letterhead with either the President's signature or the Executive Director's signature." end quote.
