Jemmott Won’t Stand For Crooked Cops
posted (June 10, 2020)
And this afternoon the officer commanding Cayo District, Superintendent Henry Jemmott - who pushed for these charges to go through gave his own take on the allegations against Carillo and Triminius. He said that that under his watch abuses of civilians will not be countenanced.

Henry Jemmott, Superintendent
"Saturday we got information from Roaring Creek police that two of our officers had stopped a young man without license, because it was concerning our officers the information was passed to PSB and Roaring Creek police were doing their investigation. I think it was Sunday night at the Red Creek checkpoint police officers stopped PC Triminius and Cpl. Carillo - they were searched suspected monies were found with them, they were detained, they were then escorted to San Ignacio Police Station where the investigator came and dealt with them. They had already recorded statements to the effect and they were jointly arrested and charged for one count of extortion and they were arraigned today in Belmopan magistrate court. Like I say I am one of the OC's that if you check my history I am strict when it comes to the abuse of people's rights especially when it comes to extortion and any crime of dishonesty. At one point in San Pedro, I had put over 12 officers on interdiction. I am up at 5 right now here in Cayo. Officers need to understand that they are there to protect the people and not to abuse the people in any way shape or form."

The officers were released on bail of $8,000, and their case was adjourned until October 28th, 2020.
