Ruthless Robbers In Corozal
posted (June 10, 2020)
There was an armed robbery of a Chinese grocery store in Corozal Town last night. It happened at around 6:40 p.m at the Huang Huang Store, on College Road.

2 men: 1 armed with a firearm, and the other with a knife entered the store, pretending to be customers. But that ruse didn't last long - and the entire scary scene was caught on the store's surveillance system.

Daniel Ortiz breaks it down:

The surveillance inside Huang Huang Store shows a female behind the counter and 3 customers: 2 in a black shirt, and a young girl in white.

Just outside the store's entrance, another camera shows that there are 3 men in hanging out in the same general area. Then, 3 people walk towards the store - including two men wearing improvised cloth masks.

They enter like ordinary customers, while two customers are standing near the counter with the cashier. The men with caps and rags are pretending to be legitimate customers.

Once he's near enough, the man with the red cap drops the facade, pulls out a handgun, while his accomplice dashes behind the cash register to start cleaning it out.

The armed man then starts to bark orders at the customers. He then kicks one of the male customers in the back to force him to the ground. The female beside him also complies, and the woman to the top left of your screen sees what's happening and wisely takes cover.

The robber's accomplice starts to unzip his bag, while the female cashier steps back with a gun being pointed directly at her.

While his accomplice starts to clean out the cash register, the man armed with a firearm runs to the entrance.

The outside camera catches the robber as he peeks outside to see who's witnessing the crime in progress. He then threatens the two men but appears distracted and backs off. He darts back inside, and most unusually, the two would-be victims seem to casually disregard the fact that an armed man just approached them.

The gunman then rushes back out of the store for a second time, and brandishes his weapon at the two men, making his intentions clear. He robs them both of what appear to be cellular phones. In the process, he clubs one of the men to the head with his weapon and shoves the other in the face with the barrel of his gun.

He walks back inside to check on his accomplice who is still busy stuffing as much stolen cash as he can get into his knapsack.

With a bag full of loot, the accomplice signals to the armed man that he is done.

The store's outside camera catches a final glimpse of the two thieves who run off and ignore the outside victims who sit and watch them leave.

The men escaped with approximately 500 dollars cash.

Police also have this footage, and they've identified a suspect who they are now actively looking for. We'll keep following it.
