COMPOL Breaks It Down On FB
posted (June 12, 2020)
But before you head out to revel in those four extra hours on a Friday night, we have a word of caution from the commissioner of Police.

Williams reminded business owners, and parents that while rules have been relaxed they must continue to do their part to ensure that they and those they are responsible for are complying with the extended curfew.

Williams posted a concise breakdown of the new regs in a Facebook post today - and he discussed it with us:

Chester Williams- Commissioner of Police
"I try as best as I can to use the platform to get information out to the public. As the commissioner of police I see it as my responsibility to educate the Belizean people as to what the law is. As you know I'm a trained attorney as well. So, I try as best as I can to sensitize the public where the law is concerned. That will help us as a department because if the public is more informed then they will be in a better position to comply. And yes we see now that effective today there have been more relaxation of the State of Emergency. The curfew hours have changed for Friday and Saturday it is from 12 midnight until 5 am. And on Sundays to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 pm. Secondly, for children being out during the none curfew hours, yes they can be out but they must be in the company of a parent or a responsible guardian. We see now that spas are opened. Other sporting activities can now be had like basketball and these sort of things can now be had."
