And Belize's robust protocols have gained this country positive attention as one of the countries that is beating COVID-19. A website named "endcoronavirus.org" has Belize as one of the 46 countries that is "winning" against COVID 19. Notably, only two countries on the American mainland, Belize and Uruguay made the list of winners. Notably, Latin America currently accounts for 46% of all COVID-19 deaths daily.
So, it is against this backdrop that Belize's performance in keeping the virus under control within our borders is being recognized. But, it's a fragile position; Salvador and Costa Rica were were on this short list not long ago, and now they are in the red, as countries which need to take urgent action.
