Four B’zeans Escaped Quarantine in Dangriga
posted (June 16, 2020)
Last night we told you about 6 Belizeans who were unaccounted for after they arrived in Dangriga on Wednesday by boat from Honduras. They should have been swabbed and quarantined for the mandatory 14 days, but no one could find them. Well, tonight, we have confirmed that they escaped quarantine at the Chiste Garcia Stadium in Dangriga. Today on Ask The Experts, the Director Of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero announced it:

Dr. Marvin Manzanero - Director of Health Services
"What about the 4 people who came from Honduras? We are following that up. I believe that would be the family that was reported to us that came in and apparently had escaped the quarantine facility. We got that note late yesterday and I passed it on to the management team to go back and review to see whether in point of fact that is what has transpired."

Manzanero says quarantine centers are secured by BDF and Police. As we've reported, three Mexicans had already escaped from the ITVET Quarantine Centre run Corozal...

So, how many are in quarantine? And where? Manzanero had a breakdown:

Dr. Marvin Manzanero - Director of Health Services
"We had 14 in Corozal; 8 of those are in a hotel; 1 Belizean and 5 Mexicans in the quarantine facility which is ITVET. In Orange Walk only people at a hotel. In San Pedro only people at a hotel. In Belize City only people that had been quarantine at the 3 hotels. In Cayo we had 32 people, that's one we have had the most staying at Victor Galvez Stadium and most of those are Guatemalans, 22 Guatemalans. Stann Creek it says here 9 people were there up to yesterday, 3 Hondurans, 2 Guatemalans and 4 Belizeans at the Russell Chiste Garcia. Those are the 4 Belizeans that may have very well been the ones that had actually left the facility."
