Cpl Eldon Challenges Compol Chester
posted (June 16, 2020)
Tomorrow is a big day for the police department, as it conducts its annual Election for the Police Association Central Board.

And, today, the attorney for aspiring president, Cpl Eldon Arzu issued a statement saying that he quote, "has been the subject, mainly through the media, of an unfolding apparent attack to his good name and reputation as a Corporal of Police and Public Officer by the newly appointed Commissioner of Police…Our client is accused of failing to present the Commissioner with an Audit of the Association funds but it must be told that there is no Statute, Act or Rule governing the request.

The Commissioner of Police issued directive 'Commanders are hereby directed that they should not to facilitate or tolerate Arzu in holding meetings with personnel at their respective formation. The Office of the Commissioner of Police will not honor anything from Arzu as it relates to the Police Association and neither should the commanders at the various formations."

In reponse to this, the Commissioner today called it a "campaign stunt." He said, quote, "It is a matter of trite law that once you are collecting and controlling monies that does not belong to you, that you are required to account to those from whom the money is being collected and or on whose behalf you are managing such funds. So to say that there is no statute or law requiring him to account to the association members as to home their money is being spend is a joke." End quote.

There are two slates tomorrow, and we'll. Tell you which side comes out victorious.
