Cops say BDF To Blame For Those Who Slipped Out of Southern Quarantine
posted (June 17, 2020)
As you heard, there are concerns at the Western Quarantine facility. But there are also concerns about the south where four Belizean border jumpers escaped from custody at the Chiste Garcia Stadium.

They arrived in the country form Honduras last Wednesday and went missing shortly after that.

Yesterday, the Director of Health Services, pointed to law enforcement, saying it is the job of the BDF and the police to secure those facilities. Today, the commissioner said it is not:

Jules Vasquez
"Dr. Manzanero said that police and BDF secure these centers and 4 people escaped from the one in south; 4 Belizeans who had come illegally from Honduras."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Let me make it emphatically clear, police do not manned quarantine centers. Quarantine centers are manned by the BDF. Yes, I am aware that there were certain persons who did escape the quarantine center in Dangriga and those persons are currently being sought by the police. In terms of what happened that lead to the escape of these individuals that a matter that the BDF will be looking into internally to see if the officers working there were negligent and if that is the case then disciplinary charges will be brought against them by the BDF."
