posted (June 17, 2020)
And while that is one foiled robbery….over the past 2 and a half weeks, we've been showing you many successful ones, where brazen armed robbers have been entering grocery stores and pretending to be innocent customers. They have been taking advantage of the State of Emergency Regulations, which requires everyone to wear face masks as a public health strategy.

Well, 7News has once again obtained footage of a robbery that occurred at around 1 p.m. last Sunday in Hattieville Village. The Q&B Store, located on Sylvestre Boulevard, was a bit busy at around that time with customers doing their shopping. All that activity allowed 3 robbers to sneak in, and catch the owner, 36-year-old Peng An Zhou, off guard. His security cameras were rolling during the crime in progress, and tonight, we take a closer look at what happened. Daniel Ortiz has that report:

Footage shows shoppers going about their business. That's when a man hooded down in cap and a cloth over his face walks in. He's about to rob the store with two accomplices. But at this point, he is pretending to inquire about something from the store owner, who is behind the counter.

He meanders for a bit and waits for the children to finish paying the owner. As soon as that customer walks to the entrance, Mr. Yellow Cap starts to make his way around the counter, and another young customer is standing nearby in one of the store's aisles.

The robber appears to be hiding something in his right hand, most likely a handgun. It appears that he delayed his attack to allow the arrival of his 2 accomplices. They walk in at the top right of your screen, again with caps and and one with a cloth tied over his face.

You can hear when the first assailant starts barking orders at the owner. The commotion behind the counter triggers his accomplice to dash to the counter.

The other assailant steps out and starts to threaten customers. One of the innocent men then flees the store, and the other customer takes cover. The young customer then also dashes out.

Off camera you can hear the robbers threatening the owner. Another customer walks in, unaware of the robbery in progress. Shortly after that, the robber in red pants emerges from behind the counter, and so does the other armed assailant in a blue shirt. They appear to be surveying all the potential witnesses to their escape.

After a brief moment of indecision, one of the men signals that the coast is clear, and they all run out of the store.

For a few seconds, the camera catches a glimpse of the firearm in the right hand of the first robber. store.

That final customer, seen at the top right of your screen, appears unaware that he was present during the final seconds of a robbery in progress.

The thieves were able to clean out his cash register of $1,000 in cash.
