We don't often report on suicides, but tonight is one of those
exceptions. 27 year old Police Constable Jerman Millian was found
hanging in his room early this morning. He is attached to San Ignacio
Police Station - and was on interdiction for 8 counts of carnal
knowledge going back to September of last year when he was accused of
having unlawful sexual relations with a 13 year old.
He was to have appeared in court today for the Preliminary inquiry into
this case - we are told.
It's a tragedy for all sides of this story, and today the new police
association president spoke about police stressors and suicide:
Sgt. Jane Usher - Elected, Police Association
"We would just like to extend condolences to the family of and friends
of PC Millian, who sadly passed earlier this morning. It serves as a
stark reality of the stress faced by police officers and the work that
remains ahead by the police association. So, from the newly elected
central board, from the members and his brothers and sisters, we will
like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and to the San
Ignacio police formation where he worked, we express our sympathies."
