Soldiers Locked Down After COVID Contact
posted (June 19, 2020)
The press also took the opportunity to ask the head of the BDF about reports that soldiers recently had to be placed recently placed in quarantine. He confirmed today that 4 soldiers have been in isolation for over a week now. That's after they came in contact with patient # 20, down in Toledo. That's the female, Belizean border jumper, and there was concern that maybe, the soldiers were exposed to the virus through this patient.

The General said that it was done out of an abundance of caution:

Brig. Gen. Steven Ortega - Commander, BDF
"We decided to put our soldiers on quarantine because, yes, we believe they did have some interaction with them, in terms of getting too close. And so, that measure, we put in place because when that person turned out positive, it was something we didn't want to spread within the force because it would definitely deplete our limited numbers."

Reporter
"Has that quarantine period finished?"

Brig. Gen. Steven Ortega
"No, I think they're still there. Week 1 just finished last week, so, they're on week two right now."
