Man On The Run, Accused of Stabbing Family Members
posted (June 22, 2020)
An apparent domestic dispute in San Jose Village, in the Orange Walk District, has resulted in the hospitalization of a 36-year-old mother, and her teenaged son and daughter.

At this time, it is unclear what triggered the quarrel between the woman and her ex-common-law husband. She told police that just before 9:00 last Friday night, he showed up at her house. The interaction between the two adults escalated to the point where he attacked her with a knife. Her children then tried to rescue her, and that's how all three of them ended up suffering stab wounds.

Here's what police know so far:

ACP Joseph Myvett
"On Friday sometime around 8:45pm, Orange Walk Police responded to a stabbing incident at the Northern Regional Hospital where upon arrival they observed Rebecca Munoz, 36 year-old, Diana Munoz, 19 year-old and Adrian Munoz, 15 year-old all of San Jose Village with apparent stab wounds. What the police know so far is that they were at home when Rebecca was approached with her ex-common-law husband and in the process while her children attempted to intervene both also received stab wounds. They have all been treated and released from the Northern Regional Hospital. Police are seeking Esau Ramirez Lopez, a Guatemalan national, pending this investigation."

Reporter
"Do you know the nature of whatever dispute they may have had that led to the stabbing, sir?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"It is my understanding that they have been separated for some time now, I believe for the better part of the year. So, he is not living at that home where he visited them that day."

Reporter
"Is there any reason offered as to why he showed up?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"No. We don't know that and we also checked and there are no recorded domestic reports in relation to any previous incidents."

As you heard, the cops are now looking for the common-law husband.
