Chairman & Alcaldes Arrested
posted (June 22, 2020)
And while COVID vigilance remains high to keep anything like those Central American type numbers out of Belize, villagers of Santa Cruz in the Toledo District say police are taking it too far.

PGTV is reporting that police busted into their village on Saturday and detained their leaders. And all because of an anonymous phone call that alleged that they went into Guatemala to sell cacao.

So, the chairman Alfredo Mes, first alcalde Renata Canti and second alcalde Caterino Chaeb were all detained. Santa Cruz residents were very concerned to lose their leader and came out to voice their concerns.

Today the Commissioner says he had only heard about the incident and had no direct knowledge.
