Carnival Cruising For October
posted (June 22, 2020)
While we know that the Belize hotel association wants the airport to open on August 1st We haven't heard much from the cruise sector. And that's because cruise ships are staying put for now.

This morning Carnival Cruise Line confirmed that they are cancelling all voyages through September 30, 2020. It's bad news for Belize's tour guides and tourist vendors, those who, ahead of the pandemic, depended on the industry for an already dwindling income.

But tonight it's still no news for them save a warning from Carnival's CEO. In a recent webinar he seemed to be bracing people for upcoming developments saying quote: " I wish I could give you a date," he said, "but we can't."

He added that, "At minimum, we're not looking for people to take on any more risk than they would normally take in [shoreside] social gatherings." Ultimately, he said that science would drive their timetable.

Premium Price Finally Falls

And while crime may be on the rise, the price of Premium gasoline is finally falling. That's according to a Ministry of Finance release that announces a midnight drop of two dollars, sixty-nine cents, taking the price from $10.92 to $8.23 per gallon.

But it's not all good news, Diesel will increase by 51 cents from $7.28 to $7.79 per gallon.

The prices for regular gasoline and kerosene will remain unchanged at $8.84 and $5.43 per gallon, respectively.

And Then There Were Four

And while premium prices fall, so too has one UDP aspirant for leader failed out of the race. UDP Cayo North Representative Omar Figueroa has withdrawn from the race, leaving it to Patrick Faber, John Saldivar, Wilfred Elrington and Darrell Bradley.
