On Friday night, 36-year-old Rebecca Munoz, her 19-year-old daughter, and her 15-year-old son were at home when her ex-common-law husband showed up. It is unclear what triggered violence between the two, but this ex reportedly pulled a knife and went after her. Her children tried to come to her aid, and they were also stabbed.
This ex fled the scene, and for several days now, police in Orange Walk have been trying to find him. A wanted poster, offering a reward of $2,000 for information leading to his capture, was released today. Their search ended today when they tracked him down and detained him. He's identified as Guatemalan Esau Ramirez Lopez, and reports are that he will soon be criminally charged for the stabbing.
