What Happens During City Quarantine
posted (June 23, 2020)
So, since the repatriation process is producing the intended results of detecting Belizeans who contracted the deadly virus abroad, the press wanted to know more about what the screening progress entails.

We got a bit more insight from Melinda Guerra, the regional manager at the Central Health Region. She was attending another health-related event today, which we will tell you about later. Here's what she had to say about how the screening and quarantining of repatriates actually works:

Melinda Guerra - Manager, Central Health Region
"As you all know, we have a process that we are following. It's from the time that the persons are actually registering for them to come into Belize. They have a repatriation form that they have to fill [out]. We screen that form. The persons got to PGIA, which is the point of entry, right now. Again, they have to complete other forms. We are now swabbing them right at the airport, as soon as they arrive, and this result we get it quickly, within 1 day, we receive the results. They are presently fully quarantined at the hotel, and we do the contact tracing. Of course, in this case, we have minimal contact tracing because there are in 1 room."
