And there is another accident to report, but, thankfully this one was neither fatal nor serious. But, it could have been. PUP standard bearer for Belmopan Oscar Mira was driving to the capital city on Friday night when he ran into a vehicle that was in the road. And tonight, what's making news is that a policeman was reportedly asleep behind the wheel of the car that had just stopped in the road. He told PLUS TV about the accident:...

"I think it's around Mile 45 where the LPG tanks are. I was coming on the highway and a vehicle was coming in front of me, so I dipped my high beam, but as I was approaching I kinda of saw some small reflection on the road, so I dipped my light to see if I could see anything and that's when I saw a small vehicle parked in the middle of the road with no lights on and while I tried colliding into the vehicle, unfortunately it was too late to do so and I collided into the back of a small dark green vehicle. Fortunately I did not received any injuries, I got out of my vehicle, both my airbags in my vehicle exploded and I had on my seatbelt, so that was good and I got out, I check myself, nothing was wrong - not even a scratch. However, I learnt that the police officer in the small vehicle got a cut on his head. It was that life threatening because he got release from the hospital on Saturday afternoon. A police mobile was there and they stopped 
and they told me that had gotten a report from someone else about 5 minutes earlier to go and check a vehicle that was parked on the road because he had almost collided into that vehicle and I was told that it was a police corporal who was the occupant of that vehicle. What I heard was that he was sleeping the vehicle, parked in the middle of the road and sleeping in the vehicle. I don't want to speculate on his condition, that's for the police to investigate."
We hope to have more information on this accident tomorrow when the commissioner has a press conference.
