And Sutherland also spoke about a San Ignacio cop accused of "working
with" money that was the property of detainees.
Sutherland discussed the criminal charges involved:

"Roy Zuniga who is attached to San Ignacio police was arrested and charged
with a crime involving dishonesty. On the 27th of June, 2020, it was
reported by a police officer at the San Ignacio police station that there
was a total of 352 Belize currency locked up in a room, that was the
property of a prisoner who was in custody. Upon that report being made an
investigation commended immediately which eventually led to Roy Zuniga,
police constable, showing police officers where he had stashed money within
the confined of the compound of the station. As a result of that, Roy
Zuniga was arrested and charge with the crime of burglary. He was taken
before the court where he pleaded not guilty and that matter is adjourned
until the 31st of August, 2020. Internal disciplinary charges have been
prepared already and those charges will be laid against this constable
whenever he's located or at his next court appearance."
