Brad’s Win Gaming License For 10 More Years
posted (July 3, 2020)
Brad's Gaming Group will be running the Belize Government Lottery for the next 10 years. Government announced today that Brads won the tender to administer the Lottery from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2030.

This is after the license was put out to open tender last year in September. Three interested parties entered bids - and, in the end, after they were ranked based on pre-determined criteria, Brad's won out.

Now, that will not win universal acclaim - Belizean's have an almost spiritual connection to Boledo, and some who play the game as a favourite past-time have their misgivings.

This evening we spoke to Brads PR Man Karil Walace about that, and got his reaction on the 10 year deal:

Karil Wallace, PR Brad's Gaming Group
"We are ecstatic as a company Brad's Gaming Group Ltd. and we are very happy to know that we came out on top, because we note that there were other companies or individuals that may have tendered. We were confident that we would have come out on top because our track record is zero to none, I mean there is no one in comparison and we are happy for that and happy to provide this service once again to the general public and we look forward to that. We thank the Belizean public for accepting us as a part of a day to day activity or daily lives and also we want to extend that we will continue to be what we have been and try to even be better than before."

"The consumers out there will want to know what will Brads do to improve the game or perhaps improve what they feel is integrity of the game, you know how people are, they always feel somehow the fix is in one way or the other. What will you all do to prove your bona fides to the regular buyers?"

Karil Wallace, PR Brad's Gaming Group
"My thing has always been if it doesn't need to fix, then don't fix it. Ahm continue to work with what we have, boledo is a game that really there isn't any other way in which boledo can be played. You can't increase prizes, or anything of that sort because it is a game that has been set in place since before I have born. We just continue the way it was being played in regards to winnings we just continue to pay out."

"Inevitably when there is competition for a winner there will be hard feelings. We know the national Olympics (NOC) was one of the persons who had a plan and their plan had some interesting elements insofar as you know they wanted to put the proceeds to sports etc. Is there anything you can say for those in the community who feel that here is Brads, you're going to make millions more off this game and all the public will get from it are the few winnings that occasionally player luck into?"

Karil Wallace, PR Brad's Gaming Group
"Not only just the few winnings, because we also have to think about the taxes that we pay in regards to licensing to actually draw must be paid."

The contract was signed on June 26th after the approval of the Office of the Contractor General.

The executed license and contract will be laid before the House of Representatives at its next sitting.
