It's a shocking story with an almost biblical narrative. But over the weekend when one brother killed the other in San Juan village it wasn't because he was highly favoured, but because he'd lost a cellphone.
Reports say that 18 year old Antonio Pop and his brother Christopher were extremely drunk when they got into an argument. It ended when Christopher stabbed Antonio fatally in his chest - and then went on the run. This morning the cops told us how they found Pop:

"On Saturday night sometime after 10:30pm the Independence police were called to San Juan village by the owner one Marcelino Caal. Where they observed the apparent lifeless body of Antonio Pop 18 years with apparent stab wounds. An investigation was carried out where police found out that both Antonio Pop and his brother Christopher Pop were at the residence consuming alcohol when a misunderstanding started over a cell phone belonging to Christopher Pop as a result he took out a knife and inflicted stab wounds to his brother who is now deceased and later made good his escspae he was later captured sometime yesterday morning when he was brought into custody pending investigation and late yesterday evening he was formally arrested and charged for the crime of murder."

"Sir, any idea why the cellphone caused such an incident, was it the cellphone itself or the contents of the cell phone?"
ACP Joseph Myvette
"At this point in time we cannot say other than to say that the cellphone belonged to the accused and that the cell phone could not have been located and we are of the opinion that based on their state of intoxication based on witnesses account this may have lead to the fatal stabbing."
