Robberies in Independence
posted (July 14, 2020)
There was also an armed robbery in Independence village. It happened this morning when the owner of Myra Store, who is Myra Cruz a grocer who also provides money gram services was sitting in the store. That's when 3 masked dark-skinned men entered the store and pointed guns toward Cruz and a male customer. They then ordered them to the ground before binding their arms and feet with duct tape. The robbers ultimately made off with $3,000.00, a large garbage bag filled with Sodas, and a Samsung cellphone which they only got after punching the male customer in the head.

And yesterday another robbery in the same area, this one at Anna's Store in the village. It happened at about 4:00 in the evening when an unarmed man attack that store's proprietor. Yesterday at a police press conference Assistant Commissioner of Police Joesph Myvette gave us more details.

ACP Joseph Myvette
"On Friday last sometime after 4:30 p.m. Independence police were called to Anna's store in Independence village where the proprietor reported to them that sometime around 4:00 p.m.he was alone inside the store when he was approached by a clear complexion person who held him down and demanded money and as a result stole an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was used and the police are seeking a main suspect in relation to this investigation."

Reporter:
"Sir there are reports that the suspect may have left behind identification is that the case?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"No, several items were recovered in terms of clothing at a nearby abandoned building."

Reporter:
"Including identification?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"I am not going to go into that."

As you heard the cops are looking for an identified suspect. That suspect whose identification was found in a nearby building is believed to be a sibling of the PoP brothers who were in the news yesterday - one charged for murder, the other deceased.
