Another important member of the senate we saw at Sunday's convention was leader of government business Godwin Hulse.
He was there to vote as a UDP appointed member of parliament and the cabinet. And while Hulse is a UDP Minister, he has never been known as a party man, in fact, he earned his public bona-fides as an independent fighter for the public good. But, he has been a minister for over a decade now - and, publicly, his lot has been thrown in with the UDP government.
On Sunday the press challenged him after he said he was nobody's puppet:...
Reporter
"There are people in the public who feels that you have become a puppet of the UDP, because there are things that have happened there has been corruption within this administration and you have not left the cabinet, you've chosen to stay in there."
Hon. Godwin Hulse
"Please tell me which one."
Reporter
"One: there is the land scandal involving Hon. Gaspar Vega which to date we have not gotten an audit for that. I know that you keep saying..."
Hon. Godwin Hulse
"I was right there, the Hon. Gaspar Vega left the cabinet. The Hon. Penner left the cabinet; the Hon. John Saldivar left the cabinet."
Reporter
"There have not been any serious criminal investigations, any serious internal investigations as to all of these things that have happened."
Hon. Godwin Hulse
"There is a serious investigation into the senate thing which happened in 2013 and we haven't gotten a report yet. Please man and I made significant changes in January 2014 which has led us now to not a perfect immigration, but a darn good and healthy one. I had no control over lands. When I was at lands you heard nothing. It took me one month to try to clean up lands and straighten out things and so we shut down for a month, everybody was up in arms. But you remember before I went there there was a damn bazaar and when I left lands there was no bazaar. You could walk in there get an appointment and get your thing done. Same thing with Labour and Agriculture."

"I have been at land departments across the country right now before elections there are operatives of the UDP who are at the these lands department. What's happening?"
Hon. Godwin Hulse
"How can that be my difficulty, I am telling you when I was in charge what was it. So what should I do. I ensure that within the cabinet and the structure of the cabinet and the things you do in the cabinet there is no corrupt decision made within that compact. maybe individual ministers, but I can't move on rumors, hearsay that somebody say. I move on facts and evidence."
