A police officer was today arraigned for the rape and sexual assault of
a minor. The allegation is that sin July 6th PC Nelson Ramos, attached
to the Intermediate Southern Formation in Independence Village stopped
a 17-year-old female driver who didn't have a valid license. She
alleged that she was taken to the Police Station where Ramos asked her
whether she had anything to offer in exchange for not facing any
traffic-related offences. She claimed that Ramos then drove her out to
a feeder road where he forced her to perform oral sex on him.
He additional is being accused of fondling the minor without her
consent.
In court, no plea was taken and due to the nature of the offense,
Magistrate Emmerson Banner denied him bail and he was remanded to the
Belize central prison until October 8.
In July 2019, this same cops walked from a charge of extortion.
