August Is Catch-Up Month
posted (July 17, 2020)
And the first month of school will be dedicated to catching up. One hundred thousand pre-primary, primary and secondary school students have been out of the classroom for four solid months.

Babb says they have a lot of catching up to do:

Dr. Carol Babb, Chief Education Officer
"So because children have been out for so long we are very concern about the gap. We want to know what they know and what they don't know. So what teachers will do during the month of August they will do assessment to determine where children are, where the strengths are, where the weaknesses are and then they will do interventions to ensure that children are on track with their learning. It is very important for parents to send their children to school during this time, because this is a time when we are going to provide support to the children because they missed out so much. I don't think that they should worry too much if they don't have the uniforms, that should not be an issue. They shouldn't worry about books too much, because remember we have a free text book system where students are provided with books. The importance is for children to go to school looking decent and clean the other things will come in place."
