Earlier in the news, we told you how the National Trade Union Congress of Belize was criticizing the Ministry of Labour for it's supposed silence on the dispute between the Christian Workers Union and the Port of Belize Limited.
As we told you, the union was suggesting that the Ministry isn't doing much to try to resolve this recent labor dispute, which involves the possible termination of 29 union members from the Port of Belize. Well, the Labour Minister of State, Dr Carla Barnett, contacted us to say that the NTUCB failed to mention that they have been part of the bottleneck to deal with this dispute.
She told us that for 3 days now, the Ministry has been waiting for the NTUCB to select a representative for the Tripartite Body, to start addressing this impasse between the Port and the CWU. She said that up until this evening, the Ministry had still not received the NTUCB's appointment to the Tribunal.
