The King and His Court
posted (July 22, 2020)
Mark King, the controversial, 1-term UDP Area Rep., is tonight a free man after he was initially charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

According to police reports, at around 12:10 a.m. on July 16th, 2020, they received reports of gunshots being fired on Signa York Street in Belize City's Belama Phase 1. They responded, and that's when they spoke to King's accuser, Emil Lisbey. He told the cops that he had invited King's girlfriend, 24-year-old Selena Urias and other friends over for some drinks. While they were all inside the house, King showed up.

Some sort of argument occurred, and that's when King reportedly pulled out of his firearm. Shortly after he left the area, a gunshot was allegedly heard.

Lisbey reported King to the police and requested court action. The cops charged King, and he was arraigned today before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer. During his arraignment, Lisbey, the complainant, showed up to court and informed the Chief Magistrate that he no longer wanted to press charges against King.

The Chief Magistrate questioned him about his decision, and he told her that he was withdrawing of his own free will. The Magistrate asked him if he was being threatened or coerced into dropping the charge, and Lisbey reiterated that he was discontinuing his complaint out of his own free will.

With that, the aggravated assault charge was withdrawn against King, and he was allowed to leave court a free man.
