And owing to yesterday's events, the port was shut down today:
operations at a complete standstill, all the heavy equipment parked, no
containers moving.
As we told you at the end of the news, the Belize Port Authority
downgraded the Port of Belize; security level from one to three, which
forces a closure. The notice says, quote, "the Port of Belize Limited
is temporarily closed for operation until further notice."
The cargo vessel that came into port yesterday, the "Pacora" remains
anchored off the Belize City coast tonight, standing by and waiting in
the hopes that the Port of Belize will be re-opened soon.
But, today, it remained at security level three, with no movement
inside, no revenue and no labour.
We are told there are plans to work the sugar vessel tomorrow but that
is pending discussion with the Port Authority.
