So, while they aren't travelling yet, there are 48 scholarships at the bachelors, masters and Ph.d level - but how many of them will return? And how many will seek employment in Taiwan's advanced economy?
The Minister of Education said all of them should return:

"The scholarship that you received whether you are ICDF of MOFA is a gift to the government and people of Belize. Are you hearing me? It's not a personal gift and so it is expected that once you received your education that it is that you will come back and you will contribute to Belize's development. I say that without reservation, because I know the heart of the Taiwanese people when they make such an offering and of course because the number of students who don't return are fast increasing. You are oblige to return, not only return but also to contribute what you have learnt to Belize's development. Belize is absolutely depending on each and every one of you."
