Shyne Vs Amy, Part 2
posted (July 27, 2020)
5 weeks ago, we told you about the Facebook post which American Amy Thomas Guiliano made against the UDP's Shyne Barrow.

She's the American from Hawaii, who has made a very serious accusation against Barrow. Thomas alleges that he didn't account for $7,500 US dollars, which she donated to him back in 2017. These funds were supposed to cover the initial utility bills and costs to launch the Mesopotamia Resource Center. The two were allegedly to collaborate on this project.

In response to what he asserts is a political smear campaign, Shyne has sued her for defamation in the Supreme Court of Belize. On July 10th, his attorney filed his claim in the Supreme Court, and that case is currently pending.

We've since seen documents that confirm that Guiliano has brought a civil suit against him. But instead of filing it in Belize, Guiliano has decided to take her case against Barrow to the US District Court in the Eastern District of New York. She is seeking to have this issue litigated under the USA's Federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

In response to her accusation, Barrow has since disclosed 3 receipts, and a sworn affidavit from the owner of the building that the Mesopotamia Resource Center is housed in. He says that these documents are proof that he is innocent of the accusations that Guiliano has made against him.

In that affidavit, Janelle Gordon Gilharry asserts that she is the landlord of the lower fact of the building, and that she she leased her part of the building to Barrow for use as the Resource Center. The rent agreed was $500 a month.

And then, there are these 3 receipts, each for $6,000 each, which Barrow asserts is proof that he has paid annually from May 2017 to May 2020.

In her lawsuit filed in the US court, Guiliano is challenging the authenticity of these documents.

The court documents say, quote, "On the face of these receipts, they appear to have been hurriedly produced, and only to create the appearance that legitimate rent was paid in 2017." End quote.

So, since his accuser is casting doubt on the evidence disclosed to disprove her allegations, we asked Barrow about it today. Here are a few excerpts from that extended and heated conversation:

Shyne Barrow - UDP Standard Bearer, Mesopotamia
"Did you see my lawsuit that I filed?"

Reporter
"Yes sir, but she's also counter-sued in the US, again."

Shyne Barrow
"Well, you know a civil matter is a civil matter, and everyone has the right to take whatever actions that they need, but again, this is, in my view, all political, All political."

"Fair-minded people will do the calculation, look at it, and say, why wait 3 years to take civil action? So, in my view, I am just trying to protect my good name. I did nothing wrong. The resource center is there. I've invested far more than any contribution that that woman made. But, you have to question why it took 3 years to go to a lawyer."

Reporter
"But she says that for you to even continue suggesting that her reasons for challenging you is..."

Shyne Barrow
"...Absolutely political."

Reporter
"But, she is saying that you are defaming her to suggest that."

Shyne Barrow
"She is financing - she could say whatever she wants, that's why we have the court. I could say what I want. She could say what she wants. I have an affidavit from the landlady to support my position. That is why I have taken out a defamation case against her, case #342 in the Supreme Court."

"In adjacency to going public, to try and slander me and defame me, and financing my opponent, 90 days before the General Elections, it is all political."

Reporter
"Suit against yourself in the New York Eastern District Court, under the Federal Racketeer Influence of Corrupt Organizations Act, does it worry you?"

Shyne Barrow
"How could that worry me, when I am suing her for defamation because everything that she's saying is a lie? I'm not worried about lies."

Reporter
"The receipts that you've produced, and the affidavit from the landlady, she saying that those are simply made up to try to cover your tracks."

Shyne Barrow
"Of course, she would say that,. And then, what will say? They're not. And then who will determine it, a court of law. For you to tell me what she is saying is just perpetuating the defamatory statements and the slander."

"I have been conducting business here for the last 3 years. I have an affidavit from the landlady that owns this place, that attests to that. So, that has to carry weight. Until a judge says that we dismissed that affidavit, we don't find that affidavit credible, you have to give that weight."

We'll keep following the lawsuits, as they make their way through the courts, and we'll tell you what comes of them.
