We got a chance to speak with Mena's UDP colleague, Pablo Marin, at another event this morning, and the press asked him for his take on the public pressure being placed on Mena to step down. He said that he hopes that Mena will stay:

"As a senior UDP member for Corozal, would you want your colleague Frank "Pawpa" Mena to stay within the party?"

"Definitely, he is one of the strongest ministers and area rep that I know can win his division and I know that he has done so much for his community and he is looking at doing much more for his community. So, I wish that he can stay. I know that he will still be here and he is a strong leader."
And, in other notes on a UDP fracture, former UDP Belmopan City Councillor Anna Banner Guy has announced that she will be running independently in the divison in the next general election.
He candidacy will be launched on Friday, at 10:00 a.m. she is expected to have the support of some UDP's and draw support away from John Saldivar. She has, in the past, been a Patrick Faber ally.
