PM Says Election First Week In November

And, if anything it to happen with a Port take-over by the Government, it has to happen now. The Barrow Administration only has about a hundred days left in office, and the Prime Minister has a whole lot on his plate, most importantly leading the COVID response effort.

In his press conference today, the PM said, don't expect an early election - as he tries to get in as much COVID relief funding as he can:

"The normal requirement is that elections go not more than five years from the date of the last general elections. I don't remember the date of the last general elections, it was November third or fourth or something like that in 2015, so as things now stand, the elections will be by the end of the first week in November of this year. That should be a secret, cannot be a secret. You are asking whether there would actually be before the end of the first week of November. Possibly, but I don't think so."

The last general election was held on Wednesday November 4th, 2015. This year, November 4th also falls on a Wednesday. The UDP has called the previous two general elections on Wednesday's.
