C-Bank Keeping A Tight Rein On Foreign Exchange

Now, the PM had said that proceeds of the Note were supposed to build up the official Central Bank reserves.

Senate Debates COVID Relief Loan

And going now to Belmopan...

There was a Senate Meeting in Belmopan today to consider the loan motion that was tabled in the House of Representatives last Friday.

As we told you it's 10 million US dollars from the OPEC Fund designated for government's COVID 19 food assistance program.

It is also intended to fund a public education campaign for COVID 19.

It drew light debate in the House on Friday, but they were rearing to go in the Senate today. Here's some of the back and forth:

Wild Robbery At Wendy's, Independence

Robberies have become an all too common occurrence since the COVID-19 induced economic downturn. And yesterday there was yet another, this one happened at Wendy's Store in Independence Village. It happened shortly after noon when 3 dark-skinned men, two of them armed with a gun and a knife held up the store owners. They opened the cash register and stole an undisclosed amount of money before taking off.

But they didn't get away. Shortly after, police scanning a back road intercepted a vehicle occupied by two men and two minors, one of the men escaped into the bushes but the rest were detained. A search of the vehicle later revealed a small amount of money believed to be the proceeds of the robbery. The man who escaped is still at large.






Bystanders Strung Up Phone Thief

He's gone viral on Facebook as an alleged kidnapper but police say that 30-year-old Patrick Palma was actually trying to rob a 15-year-old girl of her cellphone.

It happened on Banak street in Orange Walk at about 2:30 this afternoon when Palma allegedly tried to grab the young woman's Galaxy S7 cellphone. She refused to let it go and a struggle ensued. From the pictures posted on facebook, it seems bystanders got involved the dispute and detained Palma. From these pictures, they weren't too delicate about it either.

Palma, who sustained minor injuries has been detained pending charges.
