But the mayhem on Cemetery road wasn't over, and at 8:20 as 17 year
old's Darvin Arturo Nah and Elisa Marroquin, walked hand in hand across
a pedestrian ramp, they were hit by the driver of a Mazda tribute who
claims not to have seen them.
Eyewitnesses say that even after the couple had been run over and
dragged 15 feet they refused to let go of each other's hands.
This morning we heard from a taxi man and bystander who had just
returned from a job when he encountered the scene.
Larry Rivers - Taximan/Bystander
"Well I pull up a few minutes after the incident occurred, about 5 minutes
after and I saw both people lying about 15-20 feet from the cross walk and
the vehicle that knocked them was right behind, they were right behind the
vehicle and so the drive just claimed he didn't see them at all and they
were lying on the ground and they seem damaged. They were both lying side
by side on the ground and they claimed that they were working at La Popular
over there and just was crossing the sidewalk, so when I looked at the
driver we both were trying to figure out what's up with him whether he was
drunk or whatever, he seemed to be okay the only thing he claimed he did
not see the people crossing the sidewalk. You need to slow down a little
bit and respect the sidewalk you know."

"So, by your observations how badly injured were they?"
Larry Rivers
"Well the lady seemed severely damaged; she seems to have severe injuries
in the abdomen area. The guy, well I saw his knee bleeding so what I
understand he was ran over because they were laying sideway across the
street and he literally ran over them."
The couple received injuries to the arms, legs, and feet. They remain
in a stable condition at the KHMH.
