The airport is closed, but a humanitarian flight from Honduras arrived
today.
It brought home 18 stranded Belizeans who had been waiting in Belize
and Salvador for almost four months due to COVID-19 related border and
airport closures. Upon arrival, the repatriated Belizeans were checked
by the Ministry of Health and placed in mandatory 14-day quarantine.
And the flight left with 15 Hondurans who had been stranded in Belize.
The flight was organised by the International Organization for
Migration.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, IOM Belize has assisted 50
stranded individuals through the Assisted Voluntary Return Program.
