Santander’s Sweet Sound of Success
posted (July 31, 2020)
Over the last few months, we've been telling you all about the financial struggles that the Government and the private sector have been facing, since the Coronavirus pandemic inflicted the world. At this time, Belize and other countries around the globe are struggling to survive the economic crisis that this deadly disease has caused. Well, our next story is a significant departure from all that bad news.

Santander Sugar, who made a multi-million dollar investment in the sugar industry in the Cayo District, is reporting tonight that they have concluded a very successful year of harvest and production. They invited the press to witness the last truck for the season delivering cane to their factory, which is located on the outskirts of Valley of Peace Village, and 7News attended. Daniel Ortiz reports:

The company's actual production period was 115 days, and the factory operated on shifts to stay open 24 hours, 7 days a week, during that time. They tell us since sugarcane takes 13 months to grow, there will be a small cool-down period for the staff, and then, their production cycle will resume.
