PM Outlook Still Negative on Waterloo Investment
posted (August 3, 2020)
And so, now that the Port of Belize has signed that CBA with the Stevedores, which is an important political and labour entity, will government now re-consider the proposed Waterloo investment at the Port of Belize?

Weeks ago the Prime Minster said cabinet would not consider it because of the Port's state of industrial relations. Now that the stevedore CBA has been put to bed, will Cabinet now reconsider? After today's house meeting, the PM said "no way":

Reporter:
"The waterloo port expansion project will that be reconsidered now that the stevedores have a CBA?"

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"No."

Reporter:
"It won't be?"

Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow, Prime Minister
"Not right now no and remember that the stevedores have a CBA for which we are grateful but non yet with the staff. So maybe after the staff CBA is concluded we could take a look at it again but with that outstanding no, we would reconsider."
