Is Border Unit Jumping On Jumpers?
posted (August 5, 2020)
There are also allegations about a border jumping unit that's making less than its share of arrests. It's the unit settled Trinidad village, which villagers say has ceased doing night patrols. We put the question to the Commissioner, but he defended the unit.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I don't know where you get that from because most of the border jumpers who've been apprehended in the north we're apprehended by the team in Santa Cruz and it's not Trinidad. The officers just stay in Trinidad. Trinidad is not known to be a border crossing area. That is more in. The area on concern is Santa Cruz and Cocuyul and so the team would not stay in Trinidad. So I'm happy, that is good news to me that the people of Trinidad are not seeing them, because it shows that they are out doing what they should be doing which is to try as best as they can to go into the hotspots to be able to apprehend those persons who are involved in border jumping."
