As you heard Humes was a well-known George Street figure. The same was
said of his brother Shakidi. And, two years ago in the aftermath of his
death, the cops had to deal with four gang-related killings in less
than a week. But can the same be expected this time around? That's the
question we put to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams. Here's how
he responded.

"Can you say any decision that has been taken for more detentions under
that Southside SOE?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"No, we're not trying to go that route at this time. We don't want as
something happen; we pull that. We will try to see how we can investigate
and hope that we'll be able to go directly to the persons responsible and
take those persons out of circulation and at the end of the day, persons
who may want to retaliate might be his friends and we don't want to just
pickup people who might want to sympathize with this family for the
funeral. So we're being extremely cautious but at the same time, not taking
our eyes off the ball, we're not going to put our guards down, we're giving
them the benefit of the doubt to be out, to grieve with the family but if
it is that they want to grieve, my thing is you must grieve in peace. If
you decide to grieve with violence, then we are going to do what needs to
be done to protect the wider citizens."
