There's been a lot of police talk about enforcing COVID regulations -
especially wearing face masks.
But, this morning, a police inspector was assaulted by a civilian who
was disobeying the law. Keith Clarke attempted to point this out to the
man, who then threat scalding hot water on him.
Seen here, he suffered severe burn injuries on the shoulder, for simply
doing his job, and today, the Police Commissioner told the press that
the civilian will be criminally charged for it:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"It is a sad day for Belize to see that the police officers are enforcing a
very important law that is put in place to ensure the safety of all of us
Belizeans and in so doing, one idiot seems to have taken it upon himself
and threw hot water on the police causing a huge burn on the officer
shoulder, that is really sad. Nonetheless, the police will do what needs to
be done, we're not going to be detoured by incidents of those nature, we
know that the job is not an easy one, we know that people will attack us
when we will try to do our work from time to time and we're prepared for
that. The office I spoke to him, he's in good spirits and he went to the
doctor, his injury has been classified and the person who is responsible
will be charged."
