MOE Tells Teachers To Get Back Into Classrooms, Safely
posted (August 11, 2020)
Schools should have opened countrywide yesterday - but that was postponed indefinitely due to the rise in COVID 19 cases. But, a memo from the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Education makes it clear that while school is out, teachers should be in. The memo says teachers are expected to report to work daily during normal working hours. IT says the teachers are to use this time to work on their preparedness plans and learning continuity plans.

The learning continuity plans are to engage students meaningfully during the lockdown.

But, not everyone is happy about it. A teacher who contacted us complained about more than 25 persons assembling - when school have staffs that can be much larger than that. He also points to the risk of inter-district travel.

Today the Chief Education Officer Carol Babb told us that they explained that teachers are to be in their classrooms working and the room should not have more than 25 persons. They are expected to social distance.

She added, quote, "We said report to work like any worker and practice safety measures." End quote.
