And while the BDF and Coast Guard have one confirmed case each, the police department which has many more officers, and intermingles daily with civilian populations, has as many close to 10 confirmed cases between San Pedro and Corozal, as well as other officer symptomatic in the island town.

One of them, PC Manuel Caliz who's at home sick, posted this cautionary, but also consoling video for his fellow officers:

PC Manuel Caliz - San Pedro Police

"The corona is real, it's real and it's here. I don't know if it will ever go but the symptoms are for some people it doesn't affect we in general. For me, I only have pain in the eye, burning, feel like pepper but when it comes to shortness of breath, can't breathe, those are no symptoms that I have. We have a lot of people out there that just feel like is just a common cold and it just comes and goes. Corona virus that I am experiencing is lack of smell, you don't taste anything and you feel you could just about your daily life. Like me right now, I feel like I'm fit enough to go to work but I will just be fooling myself, the people out there and my colleagues. So guys, just be careful out there, you don't know who have the virus, when you are patrolling out there, if you don't need to approach nobody, don't approach nobody because I'm telling you it's real. The rise of corona here on the island keeps going up everyday, my colleagues that have corona virus, we will pull through just a matter of time and all of us are going back to work again."
