Multiple Patients Intubated
posted (August 14, 2020)
And while his family says he passed after 2:00 pm, today the Director of Health Services appeared on Ask The Experts and either didn't know, or pretended not to know of this significant event.

Here's what the DHS said about the positive patients who are currently hospitalized.:

Dr. Marvin Manzanero - Director of Health Services
"For now I can tell you we have hospitalized patients: one in Corozal Community Hospital; one at the northern regional hospital and one in the southern regional hospital - all of these persons have a confirmed Covic19 test. We also have 3 patients now at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in intensive care, 3 patients that are intubated, one of them has a confirmed positive result and that's the person that has been transferred from the western regional to Karl Heusner and we have 2 persons that are highly suspect for Covid19, but they don't have a result as yet. Because these patients showed up earlier today and they were already in respiratory distress, so those persons who were placed in intensive care under ventilation. Karl Huesner by the end of today would have had a set up of 12 ventilators, but 3 of those would have already been occupied. We also have at Karl Heusner a patient who is positive who has delivered a child via C-section, the baby is now going to be swab to determine what is the status of the child in terms of Covid19, but they are both doing well. We also have a patient that was sent from San Pedro who had a delivery. The child is intubated, we don't know the status of them, but their samples are being process later on today. That's where we are in terms of patients hospitalized. We dont seem to have any other critically ill patient at the time being. I do know that in San Pedro there is a report of some patient we are following closely in terms of respiratory failure or not."

"The 3 persons that are hospitalized are elderly persons. They are not young persons, they are older than 60, the 3 of them. The vast amount of people that are turning up positive are people in the younger generation groups, usually people less than 40. Hopefully by Monday we should give you the table of the breakdown of ages, but we are having children as young as 2 years turning out positive this week. I think we had 3 children under 5 who turned out positive today and as I said the newborn of the positive case has been swabbed and that result is pending to come out."
