UNICEF yesterday donated 8,000 COVID-19 testing kits to the Ministry of Health.
Michel Guinand, the officer in charge of UNICEF Belize, presented them to the Ministry of Health Officials in a small handing-over ceremony in Belmopan.
Guinand is quoted as saying, "UNICEF continues to bring critical supplies to Belize to support the response efforts and protect children and their communities against the pandemic… This is especially vital and timely when the country is seeing a rapid increase in confirmed cases."
UNICEF has also supported the Belize National Medical Laboratory Team with training for 5 staff members to update their knowledge on COVID-19 testing.
Today, the Director of health Services said that they had 19,000 tests on hand - and these eight thousand would be added to that number
