And, one of 6 BDF staffers who tested positive is speaking up to end
the COVID 19 stigma. Dr. Rahleel Jamaal Elijio, the Force doctor put up
a post this morning saying, "I am not ashamed to say I was tested
positive for Covid19, however it comes with stigma and discrimination.
As a doctor it is my duty to heal and do no harm to anyone. It is my
responsibility to inform the ones who are dear to me and whom I
interact with about my status . By doing this ,I am carrying out
preventative measures to protect those who may not me as fortunate as
myself in the fight against this plague. I have received countless
calls of concerns and emotional support which I am grateful for. On the
other hand the rumours and gossiping only enlighten us to know how
ignorant our people are to the ill. I am currently stable and very
optimistic about this hurdle which I will overcome . Be safe , practice
proper hygiene techniques, use your mask !!" end quote.
