And while that cop was remanded for failure to provide a gun license and believed to be under the influence of alcohol, late this evening, a big time Chinese businessman who says he has a business on the upper floor of 88 Shopping Centre, found himself in the same position and is also on remand at the Belize Central Prison.
32-year-old Yinghui Zhen of #3707 Central American Boulevard was arraigned late this evening in the Belize City Magistrate's Court on two charges: one count of possession of a firearm whilst under the influence of alcohol, and failure to provide specimen. Zhen was found in possession of a 9mm Lugar pistol with serial number, 45455093. In court Magistrate Gillett explain to Zhen who was unrepresented that her hands and tied as it related to her granting him bail and that he will be remanded to prison until he can get bail.
Zhen was shock when he heard the word jail and said, "Who going to jail, me?"
Zhen told the court that his firearm is licenced and was in his vehicle.
Police claim that yesterday evening Zhen was driving a Toyota Hilux erratically on Newtown Barracks.
He has been remanded and after his arraignment relatives who were at court sought the advice of an attorney. He is due back in Court #4 on October 5, 2020.
