There was a fatal shooting that happened in Belize City, and the man who pulled the trigger is claiming self-defense because the deceased man attacked him with a weapon.
The victim is as 18-year-old Dennis Lamb, a resident of Holy Emmanuel Street, In January, Lamb made the evening news as a suspect on the run who was wanted by police for the crimes of burglary, robbery, and escaping from lawful custody.
Well, the cops say that on Friday night at around 9:30 p.m., he used a toy gun, a BB revolver, to threaten the life of a 40-year-old businessman. This businessman told the cops that he used his motorcycle to drop off a friend on Eleanor Usher Street. While he was waiting in the yard at #15 Eleanor Usher Street, he was approached by a masked man with a handgun. After the would-be assailant uttered some words at the businessman, they ended up in a struggle over the gun. The businessman then pulled out his licensed 9 mm pistol and fired 3 shots that killed the would be robber.
After the masked man fell, the cops were called in, and when they removed the mask from the downed assailant, he was identified as Lamb. The cops say that they also found the BB gun right beside him on the ground.
During a police press briefing today, the head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch, shared a few more detail about the incident:
Today, we got approached Lamb's grieving girlfriend, and she told us that she was unable to comment, because she doesn't know much.
As soon as a final decision is made on whether or not the businessman will be charged, we'll tell you what it is.
