There has been one more COVID death - and this patient - a male - died
at a private clinic. We are told he is a patient from Orange Walk and
was taken to a COVID ward at a private facility in Belize City.
His diagnosis was done posthumously - and no details on his age have
not been provided.
So that brings the total number of deaths to 12, of 818 confirmed
cases, which is a mortality rate of about 1.5%. In the USA the
mortality rate is about 3% - which, sadly, means that there could be
more deaths in Belize. We know that COVID wards remain full tonight.
And there are 58 new positive cases to report on a day when 212 samples
were tested. 22% of those samples came back positive, which is
unusually high - the past few days had been returning positive cases at
a rate of 12 - 18%.
There were 9 new cases detected in the Corozal District, split between
Corozal Town, Buena Vista, and Patchakan.
There were two cases in the Cayo District, one in Roaring Creek and the
other in San Ignacio.
There were 20 cases in the Belize District, 17 in the city, 2 in San
Pedro, and 1 in Caye Caulker.
There were 29 cases in the Orange Walk District, split between Orange
Walk Town, August Pine Ridge, Guinea Grass, Trial Farm, San Estevan,
San Pablo, and Trinidad villages.
