Conviction For Broad Daylight Murder
posted (October 4, 2021)
There is a murder conviction coming out of the Supreme Court today.

Keyron Gibson, the man accused of the 2014 murder of 31-year-old Tulio Caceres, has been found guilty by Justice Herbert Lord.

Viewers may remember the stunning, broad daylight killing of Caceres. He was shot and killed at the entrance of Pink's Alley, which was right in front of the former City Hall headquarters, and right across from St. Mary's Primary School.

The crown's main witness was a police officer who identified Gibson as the gunman. Dr. Mario Estradabran, the medical examiner, said he saw 17 gunshot injuries on the victim's body.

In his defense, Gibson gave an unsworn statement from the dock. He said the police officer could not have seen him committing because he was not in the city. He asserted that he was in Lord's bank with his cousin, fixing a bicycle.

In his ruling delivered today, Justice Lord noted the factors he took into consideration before finding the accused guilty.

According to Justice lord, while Gibson gave an alibi defense, his witness did not appear to be truthful to the court. Hence, he gave that alibi witness testimony little to no weight.

Sentencing for Gibson is set for a later date, where a mitigation plea will be made on his behalf. He was represented by attorney Oscar Selgado, while the prosecution was represented by Crown Counsel Romey Wade.
